Leave for Graduate and Professional Students

Graduate and professional students considering a withdrawal from a semester they are currently enrolled in or considering a leave of absence for a future semester should contact Case Management and Victim Support Services (CMVSS) to discuss their options.  CMVSS is available to assist all graduate and professional students, including students in the School of Professional Advancement (SOPA).  CMVSS will help the student understand their options and complete necessary paperwork.  They will also assist in notifying the appropriate offices at Tulane, such as Financial Aid and the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. To connect with CMVSS for benefits, services, or leave related to pregnancy and childbirth, please complete the Student Childbirth and Pregnancy Request Form.  Once you complete the form, a case manager from CMVSS will reach out to you within 2 business days. You can also contact CMVSS through the following options: visit the Lavin-Bernick Center G02 (M-F 8:30 am – 5 pm); call 504-314-2160 (M-F 8:30 am – 5 pm); email srss@tulane.edu.  To learn more about the medical withdrawal and leave process, please visit CMVSS’s Medical Withdrawal, Leave, and Return page.  Learn more about CMVSS.

The Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (OGPS) and the University Graduate Council created a Graduate Student Childbirth & Family Leave Policy, which covers graduate students who receive a stipend.  They also maintain a list of frequently asked questions related the Childbirth & Family Leave Policy.   For more information, you can visit OGPS’s policies page.  To contact OGPS:
